National Coalition for Parent Advocacy in Child Protective Services
The National Coalition for Parent Advocacy in Child Protective Services Mobilizes birth parents and advocacy organizations to create positive public policy and program changes that prevent removal of children from their families by child protective services, strengthen and ensure the rights of families whose children have been removed, and return children to their families.

Healing Trauma Using Mind-Body-Energy Techniques  
Presenter: Adrienne Zahner, PhD, LCSW, CTMB
Date: Friday, June 12, 2009     9am-12pm 
In this workshop participants learn body-mind techniques including meditation for releasing emotional blocks, reframing thoughts and beliefs for achieving relaxation, enhanced clarity and empowerment for transformational change. 

Healing Attachment Wounds 
Presenter: Shirley Crenshaw, LCSW

This workshop will describe the diagnosis, signs, symptoms and assessment of attachment disturbances.  It will also highlight the importance of us-ing the family, and the significance of providing high structure and high nurturance within the family to help the child develop basic safety and trust.

Assessment and Treatment of Complex Trauma in Youth
 
Presenter: Matt Klithermes, PhD Date: July 10, 2009     9am-12pm 
This workshop will go beyond the traditional  symptom presentation associated with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and address trauma-focused assessment and diagnostic considerations, strategies for supporting traumatized youth, and an overview of evidence-based treatments for children and adolescents exposed to trauma.

Compassion Fatigue: Surviving as a  Therapist
Nancy Spargo, LCSW, Ryan Lindsay, LCSW Date: August 7, 2009     9am-12pm 
This workshop will define the concept and identify compassion fatigue symptoms, in addition to learn-ing specific skills to improve chances of staying healthy and avoiding compassion fatigue. Stress management as a clinician who specifically deals with trauma will be explored, and strategies for overcoming the symptoms will conclude the work-shop. Participants will leave with renewed hope and new self management skills.

Integrating Mindfulness Skills into Daily Therapeutic Practice
