Family Resource Center’s Junior Advocacy Board Plans Inaugural Ready, Set, Go! 5K Run/Walk
St. Louis, MO - On June 1, 2008, Family Resource Center’s (FRC) Junior Advocacy Board will host their inaugural Ready, Set, Go! 5K run/walk in Tower Grove Park, located in south St. Louis. The event will support FRC’s mission of preventing and treating child abuse and neglect in the St. Louis community.
The 5K race will start at 8:00 a.m. near the Sons of Rest Shelter in Tower Grove Park. Big River Running Company developed the 3.1-mile track and will serve as race officials for the event. The Ready, Set, Go! race is open to the public. You can register online and download race and pledge information at www.frcmo.org/5k08.aspx. The cost for the 5K Run/Walk is $20 before May 23 and $25 after.
There will also be a one-mile Fun Run beginning at 8:30 a.m. This cost for the one-mile Fun Run is only $10. All participants raising more than $50 in either the 5K race or the one-mile Fun Run will receive a Ready, Set, Go! T-shirt.
Many local businesses, such as National City, are sponsoring the race, donating their services, and providing prizes for the event. The top two runners raising the most pledge dollars will receive a grand prize consisting of a hot air balloon ride in The Great Forest Park Balloon Race.
FRC brings smiles and laughter back into the lives of hurting children and their families, but their success depends upon the support of generous friends at special events like this one. All corporate donations and pledge money will directly benefit FRC’s kids.
